Privacy at SOSGPS

2. Data we process

Depending on your use, we process: name, email address, telephone number, order and communication details; account details; device ID and technical status; location and location history; configured contact details; notifications; and, where a supported device sends them, images or other device content. When you visit the website, we process necessary technical data and limited privacy-friendly usage statistics without IP addresses.

3. Purposes and legal bases

We process data to perform an agreement, manage accounts and devices, provide location and SOS functions, offer support, prevent fraud and misuse, meet legal obligations and secure our systems. We ask consent for newsletters. For privacy-friendly, aggregated website analytics and necessary security and business operations, we may rely on legitimate interests while weighing your privacy.

4. Location, SOS contacts and sharing

Location data is sensitive. Only the account owner and people invited by that owner receive access under the selected permissions. Provide another person’s contact details only when you are authorised to do so. SOSGPS uses them only to perform the selected device and SOS functions.

5. Storage, transfers and security

Our service is hosted in the Netherlands and Germany. We do not sell personal data or use advertising networks. If a supplier processes data for a necessary part of the service, we make appropriate arrangements and limit data to what is necessary. We use appropriate technical and organisational safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

6. Retention

We do not retain data longer than necessary for the purpose collected. We keep account and device data while the account or service is active. Afterwards, we delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period unless a legal obligation, dispute, fraud or security matter requires longer retention. Newsletter data is retained until you unsubscribe. Operational log and location retention can vary by service setting.

7. Your rights

You can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability or withdrawal of consent. Email privacy@sosgps.nl. We may ask for additional information to protect your identity. You may also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

8. Children and changes

Anyone creating an account for a minor is responsible for required parent or guardian permission. We may update this notice when our service or the law changes; the current version is published on sosgps.nl.
